Migration FAQ

The questions every PM asks before pulling the trigger.

How long does a typical migration take?
For portfolios under 100 units, most customers are fully live in 3–5 business days. Larger portfolios (500+ units) usually take 7–14 days, mostly because of bank reconciliation and document review. We don't charge by portfolio size.
Will I lose data switching from Buildium / AppFolio / DoorLoop?
No. Our pre-built parsers cover every record type those platforms export — properties, units, tenants, leases, ledger entries, owner statements, and document attachments. We run a parity audit against your old export so nothing is silently dropped.
What if I don't have an export — just a folder of PDFs?
That's the most common case for landlords coming off paper or QuickBooks. Drop the folder in our PDF inbox and our AI will classify each document, extract structured data from leases, and link everything to the right property and tenant. You review before anything is saved.
Do tenants need to do anything?
On launch day they get a one-click email link to claim their new tenant portal. If they had auto-pay set up in your old system, we'll guide them through reconnecting their bank in the new portal. Most tenants are switched over in under 5 minutes.
Can I run both systems in parallel during the transition?
Yes. We recommend running RentierNow in shadow mode for 1–2 weeks while your old PMS keeps collecting payments. Once you're comfortable, we cut over the bank account and tenant portals. Your old data stays archived in RentierNow forever.
What does it cost?
Migration is free. No setup fees, no per-record charges, no consulting hours billed. The only cost is your monthly RentierNow subscription — which starts at $59/mo and is cancellable anytime.
What if something goes wrong after the import?
Every import batch has a 30-day undo. If the wrong column got mapped or a duplicate slipped through, we can roll back any individual table without affecting the rest of your data. Your migration specialist also runs a 14-day audit to catch issues you might not notice yet.
